A litigator with over twenty years of experience, Susan has chosen to focus her talents and career on protecting the most vulnerable in our communities and those that have fallen victim to medical negligence.
After graduating at the top of her law school and serving as editor of her law review, Susan began her legal career in New Orleans, Louisiana where she became a partner practicing healthcare law and medical malpractice defense. Her clients were among the largest insurers and healthcare institutions in the south. Through this experience, Susan honed her skills in mastering not only the courtroom but the medicine of the cases she handled. After her move to California, she continued her defense practice in large Southern California law firms, until she chose to focus on building and raising her family.
Susan volunteered her time with National Charity League, Meals on Wheels, Children’s Hospital of California, Girl Scouts, and Boy Scouts, and supported her children’s athletics including soccer, track, baseball, swimming, and Junior Guards. With her children up and out and still fascinated by medicine, Susan’s career took her to the other side of the bar focusing on plaintiff catastrophic injury cases arising from medical negligence.
Susan joined the Valentine Law Group in 2022 and brings to each medical malpractice, elder, and dependent adult abuse case her years of experience in anticipating defense tactics, cross-examining medical experts, and courtroom techniques to educate juries and judges on even the most complex of medical issues. Susan also brings to each client and family, empathy from her own life experiences.
In her free time Susan enjoys volunteering with elder groups in her community, traveling with her husband and a good book.
